Voice Mail WAV Files on Android – Part II

by on Aug.22, 2010, under Accessories, Apps, Misc, wav2mp3

Per popular demand I added a NEW feature to the existing conversion service that now allows you to automatically convert your voice mails. Previously you had to manually forward the email containing the wav attachment to wav2mp3_at_droidstory_dot_com to get a message emailed back with the converted mp3 file attached. If you receive a lot of voice mails that can be a hassle.

If your current phone system allows you to forward voice mails via email, simply change your existing email address to the following new format (here is an example):

All you have to do is basically change the @ symbol in your email address to # and add @droidstory.com to the end.

The old manually method of forwarding voice (e)mails to wav2mp3_at_droidstory_dot_com still works too, or you can just use the new address format if you want the reply sent somewhere else.

And the best part is: Unlike similar services, there is still no setup or registration required.

And it works for iPhones too. ;)

Use the comment section to report any problems or if you need any setup help. Enjoy!

My Company just changed their system & the email forwarding program no longer accepts the format me#optonline.net@droidstory.com. It sees it as an invalid email address. I’ve called for assistance but it doesn’t look good on that side do you have any suggestions??

Just try one of the following alternate delimiters: #,%,*,|

    In your case, try me%optonline.net@droidstory.com

Would you be interested in sharing the source code for what you implemented here? It’d be nice if I could just run this service on my own server for private use.

We use MS Response Point and I can’t get any of the delimiters to work between me and our domain. Any other ideas? Thank you for this cool tool!

use gmail or some other free email service as interim forwarder, just make sure to configure the forwarding rules properly to avoid sending converted vm’s back to us
