Welcome to DroidStory, our blog about all things related to Android, the Google Nexus One, the Motorola Droid and its upcoming sibling phones. We will cover applications, accessories, “the network,” and the android platform.
What makes this blog different? We will be comparing implementations on the Droid as compared to other platforms. We have our BlackBerry units (Curve and Storm), iPhone units and Palm Treos at the ready. When an application or accessory crosses devices, we will ask whether the Droid version takes advantage of things Droid. (For example, we have a copy of Desktop To Go on every one of these platforms. We have Gmail on everything except the Treo. And, so on.)
Our questions will include whether the software take advantage of the large screen. Is it easier to use on an iPod? Does the holster fit better? How loud is the ringer when compared to the other devices? And, of course, a side-by-side “Can you hear me now?” calling competition between devices.
We are mobile enthusiasts who have used portable devices since the original PalmPilot and wireless devices since pagers and the Palm IV. We use them mostly for business as an important part of getting the job done.
